Message from LCIF Chairperson
October 20-23, 2022
Dear Fellow Lion,
Congratulations on the Third Annual Africa Forum, and thank you to everyone who has helped make this
important event possible.
I commend you all on your commitment to your community and for giving hope to those in need, empowered by Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) funding. Last fiscal year, LCIF awarded Lions in Constitutional Area (CA) VIII more than US$6.6 million in grants to serve your communities. During your forum, I hope that you proudly share how Lions of Africa are sharing these stories of service and supporting LCIF.
As you know, LCIF recently completed Campaign 100: LCIF Empowering Service, raising US$325 million and exceeding our US$300 million goal. This amazing success, made possible by the generosity of Lions like you, will enable LCIF to support grant-worthy projects and empower Lions to improve health and well-being, strengthen our communities, and support those in need around the world.
I want to thank CA VIII for your dedicated campaign efforts. As one of only two constitutional areas to adopt a campaign stretch goal, you achieved the second highest per member average during the campaign. CA VIII also succeeded in doubling its number of Campaign 100 Model Clubs for three consecutive years, reaching 140 percent of your model club goal. Through the universal giving initiative, 45 clubs committed to being Campaign 100 Progressive Clubs. Special congratulations to District 403A2 for winning CA VIII’s Campaign 100 Model Club Challenge. You should all be very proud of these achievements.
Please remember that this historic campaign success is just a milestone – not a destination – for our organization. Let us not forget that the needs of the world continue to grow. We must build on this momentum to ensure our foundation’s ability to empower our service for generations to come.
Enjoy your forum, and thank you for your ongoing support of LCIF, which so greatly magnifies the impact of your service. I am proud to serve alongside you and look forward to hearing more stories of your life-changing and lifesaving service in your community.
Yours in service,
Douglas X. Alexander
